car just doesn't feel fast anymore anyone else get this

I don't think anything is wrong I think i'm just used to it now 381 whp 386 wheel tq , when on a almost perfectly flat road it just doesn't feel all that fast , but when i take it up a steep hill it still will surprise me how it can just rip like there is no hill so now I like to search for hills to climb . I have all the basic mods its a 2.3 fp black but on 92 octane and stock cams so I'm looking to put some s2 cams and new springs eventually I'v heard cams really opens these cars up and its a big bottle neck in my build maybe that will revive that surprise feeling i miss when i had it tuned last. But has anyone else felt almost like there was something wrong but it was just u being used to the power. I have new plugs , afr is on target , did a new cam position sensor , she holds boost , and doesnt burn much oil at all so I think its just me being used to it. Its funny driving my girlfriends car it feels like driving a boat with the slack in the steering wheel and soft suspension feels like your just floating around , then u hop in the evo and its like so agile maybe i just need to take a break and drive a slow car for a while lol. Would like to hear from others especially on cams how much did it change the driving characteristics was it really a big noticeable change i know it depends from build to build but just like to hear some examples.

I think everybody gets that at some point in time. But cams would help you out a whole bunch if your still on stockers.

awdordie Oct 6, 2011 02:33 PM

Cams will def put some pep in her step. And yes from time to time I too have to hop in a slower car and drive around for awhile or mine to begins to feel like every other car. Its really bad if u daily drive your evo like I am forced to do as of now.

As the driver I always feel like my car gets slower, when I sit in the passenger side though I realize that it's just me.

But yeah cams would do good.

shawn360h Oct 6, 2011 02:40 PM

i had the same problem until i got a dd civic. Now the evo feels like a rocket ship again lol

good points and ya mine is a daily driver , I swear i can tell a difference when I have even just 1 passenger in the car , I can totally tell I'm dragging there weight lol my friends don't believe me there like naw but seriously its just that much faster with out anyone , plus I have a pretty big sound system huge box in the trunk its gotta weigh easy 100 lbs + at least so sometimes i feel like i could loose that but i love music so probably just have to work harder to buy more performance upgrades.

Here is a vid of the speakers can't really tell how big the box is it just barley fit had to have a friend help me lift it in there , i'v seen other kicker box's that look similar but this particular model is bigger then the ones i have seen others with and its way heavy

e85 will fix that^

You'd probably pick up a good ~70 wheel with cams. And I agree, I think the danger in modding cars is that you nearly always get used to the power, especially on a flat road. I think if you started driving your car in some sort of AutoX or Road Coarse you might appreciate your power a little more, as in that situation, 400whp is all you need to be competitive.

Extra weight is a lot for a little motor. I bet most people can feel a difference with or without a passenger. I know I can. Shaving weight is the cheapest HP.

lonestarevo83 Oct 6, 2011 07:48 PM

Your a man. No amount of HP will ever consistently make you happy. It's like getting the same lame blow job over and over again. Something has to change or you just fall asleep.. HAHA

^+1
And yea you get used to the power real quick! dont get to comfortable it might just surprise you every now and then if your sleepin. Plus a good tune makes the car real smooth making it even easier to get used to the power. Enjoy in good health.

IT happens..

It's pretty normal I would say. It's just that we become accustomed to the power we have so it feels like the car is getting slower. A good cure for this (in my opinion) is to get someone you trust driving your car to run you through the gears a few times while you are passenger. The car feels much faster from the passenger seat.

its def normal, esp if you drive it everyday.

I went from e36 m3 to s2k and felt the same.

Then to 350z torque not fun to drive though. Later on to e46 m3 felt fast.

Stayed out of cars for around 2 years and got a wrx thing felt so fast but was a slow car.

Got my jdm evo 4 feeling how quickly an evo spool was amazing. Got sick of it and upgraded to a green but felt slower! Lol project car with hta86 or 6262 now.

Got a low 12 second evo 8 on pump which could prob do 11s thing felt so fking fast and after a while felt slow.
