color I've never seen before

Hey guys came accross this evo 8 and its a dark red. Not the bright red I've seen before was just wondering what the name of it was and if its an OEM color...I've never seen one this color in person or any pics ...

Thanks

The only dark red OEM color I know of is on the X. I assume you saw the car in person as photos can have hue issues. that being said, it was likely a repaint is my guess. attach a pic if you can.

Oh because there's this dealer in san.Diego with Like 8 evos Haha, and half of them aren't original paint..... It was ridiculous lol

hopefullevo Oct 17, 2011 01:50 PM

probably an aftermarket paint job

Lancerguy'03 Oct 17, 2011 01:52 PM

Some of the base model lancers had a darker red color I thought....

edit maybe we will see im image code works

oh well i guess it wasnt meant to be..ill keep being patient

well guess i just answered my own question it looks to me like it was an original black car from the engine bay.....regardless, the pics dont do this red justice, i think it looked stunning on the car

You could maybe make that color look good with 2-5k in aftermarket exterior mods Haha

4bangn Oct 17, 2011 07:02 PM

yea, thats not an oem color, repaint

RazorLab Oct 17, 2011 07:05 PM

It's obviously a repaint, the engine bay is black and there is bad mask paint around the identifier badge

Frew Oct 17, 2011 07:12 PM

bad news bears, better question is why was it repainted

Jedyboyrokr Oct 17, 2011 10:48 PM

I never really had a chance to inspect the car as the first time I saw it was on Sunday so they were closed...

Lancerguy'03 Oct 18, 2011 08:27 AM

I would say it was repainted cause the OEM colors of the Evo8 were ****. my 04 Evo is faded red...want to get it repainted.

There's a good chance the paint can be brought back to new-like condition. Stop by the detailing forum.
