STI BBS's on evo

Someone got a link for this. Just as a second set of wheels I'm getting 17x8 STI BBS wheels. Any suggestions on spacers (15mm or 20mm)? Extended studs? I'm assuming after spacing the center boar won't matter.. But if so my buddy will boar them for free. No biggie.

Looking for everything I need done to run them properly.

Exact wheel if anyone is curious.

I had an sti and man are those wheels tough to clean! looks good though. have no information for though pertaining to the topic. sorry. post a picture though once you get them on. I am curious to see what they look like.

Alright. And yeah I've sandblasted and painted a couple sets of these exact wheels for friends... Not fun... Can't imagine cleaning. They're gonna be auto cross wheels lol. I'll be picking them up this week but no tires til next month.

You're going to need some major spacers, the offset of the stock STi wheels is something like +52 if I'm not mistaken. Just for reference, the OEM Enkei's are +38 and they're pretty tucked from the factory. Also, make sure they are 2005+ because the 2004 DID NOT use the same bolt pattern. (5x114)

Iirc the center hub on the sti rims are smaller and need to be drilled to fit.

5speedwtneed Nov 15, 2011 04:19 AM

Yes I know. But since the offsets are so crazy, if you run a 20mm spacer, does that even make them touch the hub any longer? Anyone have a specific extended stud kit and spacer? I want very high quality running such wide spacers.

i do and so do tons of other people if you trust the stock ones i should hope you trust the arp since they are a stronger stud there are a few other companys that make extended studs other then arp also. op i would just sell the wheels and buy a set of evo 8 wheels if you are just looking for cheap winter wheels.

llDemonll Nov 15, 2011 08:11 AM

why would you buy wheels that fit so badly for track wheels? that 20mm spacer is going to put some strain on places it normally wouldn't...

thepoint4life23 Nov 15, 2011 09:53 AM

inless you got a great deal on them, then it may not be worth with all the work you need to do to make them fit. like posted before you could maybe find some stock 8 or 9 wheels that will bolt right now

turbotalawd Nov 15, 2011 01:48 PM

Why not just get a set of 8/9/x wheels? Seems like a pain to make the sti wheels work.

ive been running arp extended studs in the front for 2-3 years and no problems here.

you can get ichiba version 2 wheel spacers with studs already in place if you dont want to run extended studs + spacers.

but honestly i would just get a set of wheels that fit better to save you the trouble.

You should always be hub centric, even with spacers. (esp if racing on them) So get hub centric spacers. Is your friend gonna bore the wheel hub out with a die grinder or a mill? You may be able to get a custom set of spacers made that will fit with the different hub bores. You'll need spacers, extended studs and open ended lug nuts. I'd just buy a proper fitting set of wheels - 5Zigens are only around $750 new. Kind of a lot of work for only 8" wheels, especially if you're autoxing on them.

5speedwtneed Nov 16, 2011 04:24 AM

Well I'm picking these up locally for like $300. I doubt I can find evo stockers for that price =\
