Bored today to I made a ashtray gauge pod

I wanted to get a gauge pod for the ashtray but they aren't offered anymore so I decided to draw one up in solidworks and print it out on a FDM machine out of ABS plastic so its pretty tough. I printed it in 3 pieces to test fit it all. The top section inst glued together in the pic yet since im going to make some small adjustments to the model. Took ~3.5hrs of time to print but im pretty happy with the results :) The only thing left to do is prime it and paint it to match the center console.

Thats pretty awesome, could you make one angled a bit toward the driver? How much would you charge for that?

Looks good, and nicely done{thumbup}

Looks fantastic! I too wish that it were clocked 25* to 30* toward the driver though. I'd buy one. Great job of designing and execution!

I went to a cad dimensions 3d seminar in engineering or college and watched a planetary gear box get printed all assembled. Amazing stuff

I would be interested in buying 1 as well.

ReignMan24 Dec 6, 2012 12:12 PM

as would I, i would honestly pay 20$ for sumthin like this lol

Tfresh Dec 6, 2012 12:31 PM

Making it angled towards the driver would be as difficult as modifying my 3d model and printing another one. As far as selling them I don't know how cheap I can make them since its a rather time consuming process and I have to babysit it while its printing. I'll let you guys know though.

EvolutionIX219 Dec 6, 2012 05:23 PM
