Retracting front license plate

Ive been pulled over 3 times now for not having the front plate, 2 were warnings but the last one was a citation. I do NOT want to drill the front bumper for the bracket we got so I decided to do some searching. I came across some muscle car threads where the bracket is underneath the front bumper and with a push of a button it comes out.

Did anybody here do this mod or buy it? I found some on ebay ranging from 45 to 140, manual and electric

Im not sure if there is laws aboit the plate been a certain amount of inches from the ground

I just want some opinions on this

yeah, they're easy to mount. right under your front lip.

so when its down, it protrudes the width of the plate outwards... ? or does it slide in?

if you want to scrape it on things, sure, do that

Find a different way to mount the plate, besides drilling into the bumper then. Its not worth the hassle. Its clearly something the cops look for in your area so you are just going to have to play by the rules or expect history to repeat itself.

In a pinch I just used 4mm vacuum line and cut a slit down the length. I then opened it up and super-glued the vacuum line around the license plate to keep it from messing up the paint and zipped tied it through the mesh on the drivers side. It worked great for a temp fix. Texas let their front license plate law expire and I took it back off.

I used the factory bracket and didn't drill my bumper. I don't know if you have an VIII or a IX but it's doable on the VIII. I just used 3M double sided tape on the lower bracket point to stick it in place and make sure it doesn't scratch the bumper. The pass side bolts to the mesh bolt point and the drivers side bolts to a slot in the bumper opening.

I also used the factory plate bracket and 3m taped it to my ix bumper
