Are Evo's more fun then motorbikes?
I've had bikes all my life and am now selling my bike in favor of the Evo, I actually enjoy being able instantly jump in the car even with my pyjamas on and go for a wick canyon blast without the fuss of having to suit up with all my gear and risk my life with a little old lady turning out in front of me on the way to church on Sunday. I also enjoy the no fuss of taking a passenger and having good conversation and another is the no fuss track days with cars, I also enjoy the challenge of keeping the Evo on boost at speed in and out of the twisties. With a bikes it's all no challenge anymore.

I have owned 3 motorcycles, and my current Evo.
I have been in 3 wrecks on motorcycles, went to the hospital 3 times.. and as of right now none in my Evo. That being said - it has it's plusses and minuses, as a motorcycle rider you have an almost instant camaraderie with most other motorcycle riders, you can ride 'together' until you reach your destination and break off, can't do that in a car. Driving around in my area (SoCal).. I'll throw a wave to other evo drivers, if you see them in a parking lot, you might chat a bit. but that's it. As you mentioned.. the ability to hop in the car and go anywhere is a huge plus, the boost is great. I don't know that that actually answers your question, but just a little point of view from someone who has done both. |
They aren't to me....Evo's are more practical however.

As the owner of a 2009 ZX14 and a 2011 GSR, I cant say that the Evo is more fun but the Evo is more practical. I have a 10 year old daughter and a Fiance that love to go on trips with me in the Evo. Cant take them both on the bike but we can have fun in the Evo as a family.

Why not keep your bike? Or get something cheaper. I mean, for equivalent of $4k US you can get something nice.
Each is fun in their own ways, but I think I'm more apprehensive going fast in the Evo. A fast crash will cause a lot more damage than my bike. Plus I feel more in tune with the bike. I can back the rear in for a corner, even on public roads. On the evo, the dynamics are so much different, so much more to think about, like weight transfer, snap oversteer, etc, that I think I'd need to push past the envelope half a dozen times to really drive it with the same competence, and I'm not doing that on public roads I like going on long trips too (2-3k miles) and doing that on the bike is a lot more rewarding than being stuck in the cage. Went for a quick ride last weekend, came home with a sh1t eating grin. Can't beat that. Plus insurance runs me $230 for the whole year :) |
I have zero trust for all the drivers out there, so I can not commit to riding a bike on public roads. The Evo is fun in the twisties, straight roads, gravel, snow, doesn't matter, you I can do anything with it. Most of the fun spirited driving trips I do start with a paved part followed by some gravel. I just got my snow tires installed today and its snowing outside, let the fun continue.

I grew up riding dirt bikes. Still ride to this day. Never owned my own street bike but I've driven my buddies many a time. That being said I don't get the same rush on a street bike as I do on a dirt bike therefore I don't think I could own one. My main reason for not wanting one is my lack of trust in other drivers on the road. Too many distractions. I could never DD a bike. Just not practical enough.

i had a supercharged zx10 for a while. it was pretty awesome but between the hassle of riding it, and how easy it would be to die on it, i got rid of it. i have had a few dirt bikes and sport cruisers and basically theyre a lot of fun but the hassle and inconvenience isnt worth it. ill take a fast car.

thats a hard question...i have both...07 gsxr 1000 and evo...theyre both completely different...i would never daily drive my bike because of stupid people on the road...ill take it out maybe once or twice a month with a couple of friends for a sunday ride and find some twisties in the country roads somewhere where theres nothing just us...when i go ride i come back a new man...i love it...now we also go to those same roads on the cars and its also a blast...so they each have their thing...

The evo is a lot more comfy, warm and dry, carries lots of stuff, and can also give you a rush when pushed. |
How good is your health insurance?

I love motorcycles, but the only time I'm really having fun on one is when I'm doing something illegal. And the rate of reaching illegal is really fast on a bike.
|
I've been on bikes before. They are hella fun. 0-60 in 3 seconds on a CBR and making a turn at 60 mph... nothing quite like it.
These bikes are faster than any Evo, 160 hp on a bike that weighs nothing? The weight to HP ratio on some of these bikes are flat out ridiculous. With that aside, the down side is that they are dangerous. If you ever lay one down going faster than 30 mph, you have a very good chance of seriously injuring yourself. I'm in my mid 20s and I've out grew them. The responsible adult in me tells me my bike riding days are over. |
yeah the responsible adult in me tells me the same thing but I can't help it, I just punch him in the nuts and run away...lol no but really, a bike is a hobby not a dd...you have to respect it but not be scared of it...when you ride you have to have 4 eyes open at all times...yes 4 not 2 lol...

When I was in the military, I knew a guy that would offer to buy other soldiers a sports bike if they named him as the beneficiary of their 100K life insurance policy. True story.
