Need help on my boost leak
I need help on my evo 8 i believe its a boost leak, i check my boost gauge its set at 15 psi but it goes all the way to 10 psi passed where it says (vac) on the gauge.
|
Errr, you mean when the car is running it's at -10psi?
|
in my experience boost gauges go bad pretty often. If you can, verify the gauge is accurate before taking too much apart. On that note though its never a bad idea to visually inspect all the hoses for anything super obvious.

Nope its 15. When im in a dead stop it goes to 10 and when i step on the gas boost collects and stops at 15.

10psi of boost at a stop? Sounds like a bad gauge to me.

But you shouldn't even make boost at all during idle. It should be in heavy vacuum, My Evo X idles around -20 to -22 psi.
|
Are you going to listen to the people that are trying to help or just argue with them?

Yeah i aint running my car its parked. |
Thank your guys for helping! This is why i love this form.

So borrow a compressor and do a boost leak test, should be done every year, when you get the pressure up you'll hear air escaping, I found a little broken vacuum pipe around the back on the injectors, never even knew it was there

check the EGR hoses under the intake I have had a few where one would pop off not a bad idea to zip tie all your vac hoses as well.
|
-20 to - 22 inches of vacuum not psi, you could divide it in half to get psi so -10 to -11 psi at idle
