Water Temp readings comparison

For those of you running both the stock water temp gauge in the speedo cluster and an aftermarket gauge-- in general when the stock gauge in the cluster reads approx mid way whats the corresponding temp in degrees on the aftermarket gauge?

Before 2003, when I traded for my Evo, I drove a DSM. Anyway, during my DSM days I discovered Beck Arny made a "safety" thermostat. This consisted of a second wax pellet engine that would operate at a higher temperature and some fingers that once this second engine operated, would lock the thermostat permanently open.

I discovered it took about 15 minutes of hard driving to lock the thermostat open. Then you had to pull the thermostat and unlock the fingers. That quickly got old. During all of this the temperature gauge read nothing but normal. So, there was a range of temperatures where the gauge read rock solid normal. I believe the Evo is the same.

What is your aftermarket gauge telling you?
