Diaqueen LSD Gear Oil - Discontinued?

Did anybody else see this?

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...available.html

"URGENT Stop-Sale on Part# MZ320345 LSD Gear Oil

On December 19, 2017, MMNA was notified by JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation that LSD Gear Oil GL-5 SAE 90 (Part# MZ320345) does not comply with the EPA’s Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)."

Sorry for the repost from the Engine / Turbo / Drivetrain section. A buddy with an Evo X just gave me a heads-up.

Just use redline instead. 75w90 or 75w140

Klaiceps Jan 10, 2018 02:51 PM

Currently running Motul in my transmission, transfer case, and rear diff. So far no issues and no weird noises.

I have some Diaqueen, I would assume I would be ok to use it at my next interval?

I read Eneos GL6 will now be the replacement. Any reviews on it?

I'm with Klaiceps and would recommend the Motul 75W-90 Gear Oil if you're worried about Diaqueen availability. You can find it anywhere including Amazon. The Motul gear oil works great for my transmission and I both road race and autocross my Evo 8. However, I do run the Redline Heavyweight Shockproof Gear Oil in my Transfer Case and Rear Differential.

Motul and Redline are both good alternatives. Amazon has it listed, but they will cancel your order if you place one. That's what happened to me at least.

strange. I have no idea what what all the technical jargon means, however from what I gather GL 6 is for high offset tall gears. Torco lists it as obsolete.

"API Category GL-6 (inactive*) designates the type of service characteristic of gears designed with a very high pinion offset. Such designs typically require (gear) score protection in excess of that provided by API GL-5 gear oils. The original API GL-6 test equipment is obsolete."

Any concerns with redline 75w90 or 75w140 as a substitute?

LSD90 stop sale has halted, regular sales can resume again. It was found to be compliant.
Carry on.
