Stupid Q getting a new key, mess up my tune?
 

What title says, in at dealer for airbag. Was thinking about grabbing a second key... Any chance this screws up my tune?

Key has nothing to do with the tune. So, no.

Cool, because then I can order that second key, but also cool because they messed up the immobilizer when doing the airbag so I'm sure they're digging into that rn. Lesigh

But if they also perform the reflash bulletin then you're in trouble. Tape a sign to your OBDII port that tells them NOT to reflash the ecu :lol: But +1 for the key not having anything to do with the ECU.

So... fun day. It seems that either they nerfed something or coincidentally my ignition cylinder failed while they were doing the airbag. This... as some of you may know, causes the vehicle to think the key is in the ignition at all times which means my remote FOB doesn't work, and my door chime is always active any time the door is open, car on/off key in out, whatever.

They advised they were going to order the part and get me back in. I sort of half expect this to blow up and turn into one of those things that I have to run in circles for... but the tech who did the job was good, and competent (I'm also a professional wrench) and he seemed to give me the Evo love. Just kinda sucks that this is the only time I've ever had to have my car in at the dealer (aside from a pre-purchase inspection) and it goes slightly sideways.

Or you can get in there and jump the wires. I did that until the part came in. Some people just leave it that way. No wait. :lol:

When I had my airbag recall done I let them know the car was tuned, they said there was a reflash and they wouldn't do the flash. Not sure if it would have made any impact or not, but best to let them know.
