What's up with locking lugs??
Hey guys,
I did a search for locking lugs, and all I was able to find were some older posts...most of which were complaining about no products being available for our wheel because of the shape of the lug. What I'm wondering, is if any of you have found some nice locking lugs for the stock Enkei wheels. I read something about Mcgard locking lugs in one post, but read another that says they don't have a fit for our wheels. So, if anyone has found some good locking lugs for our wheels, please let me know what they are, part #, website...anything you have would be greatly appreciated! |
You can get wheel locks directly from your dealer.

Do not get the mitsu lock lugs the are cheap POS. I broke off the the imprint on them where the keys go. I was luckily at home so did not need a tow or anything like that.
|
Yeah, I kinda heard the same thing about Mitsu's locking lugs from a few older posts. I read a few posts about spline-drive lugs, but it doesn't sound like any companies make them for the EVO yet...or do they?
|
I just used the one I had on my ITR and everything seems to be working fine
|
Are you looking for some for your stock wheels? The stock wheels require a spherical or ball type lugnut which is harder to find then the cone type that fit most aftermarket wheels. I would guess that you should be able to find some but I could be wrong. I just got some spline drive lugs for my new wheels (TDR Pro Race 1's) they just need to be M12x1.5 to fit but these are not stock.

Well, I may just have to go with the Mitsubishi wheel locks...I think the reply from bullfrg says it all. I've read that in previous posts, and am getting the impression that no aftermarket company sees a profit in making them (can't blame them if they're for wheels that seem to be an odd fit). If anybody else has any other ideas, PLEASE reply...I'm gonna do it this weekend.

26$ for :mitsu: locks and they work {thumbup}
|
I have the :mitsu: locking lugs on mine. I've taken the wheels off a few times and have never had any problems.
|
I bought my wheel locks from Autozone for like $15. And they fit fine with no problems. Dealership was more expensive... But why?

McGard and Gorilla have ball-end locking lugnuts available.
They're listed at Summitracing.com Gorilla Ball Seat 12x1.50 $14.39+s/h McGard Ball Seat 12x1.5 $19.95+s/h |
just make sure you put a bit of silicone spray on the stud or in the nut before putting it on....helps big time taking it off a few months down the road

I've had the stock :mitsu: locks on my Eclipse since 2001 and never had a problem. When I traded in my Eclipse for the EVO, the guys at the service department ran the number s and the stock ones fit my EVO too so I took them off and havent had any problems with them...remember their 3 years old and I have my tires rotated regularly and put snows on in the winter..the :mitsu: locks are great !!!

I've got the Mistu one and they work fine. I've had my wheels on and off several times and used an impact wrench on the lug/key, with no problems.

Hi Guy's,
Slightly off topic newbie question, but what size socket fits the EVO lug bolts? It is not the standard 19mm I am used to. Thanks! |
