So are the EVO's any good at dragging?
Plain and simple.
Just curious if you can take the car a diff way if you wanted. . . ? |
Currently guys are running 9s. If that's good, then yes.

EVO's suck at drag racing! If you want a drag racer, get a WRX :thumbdown
  |

Aren't you the guy who asked about the IS300 compared to an EVO?? Are you just going to ask a bunch of questions without reading all the threads or are you just a speculator? |
I guess 9 second 1/4 mile times dont impress you. Or low 1.5 60ft times either.

I just don't want to make the same mistake I did with my first car. Is that neccessary a problem? |
please dont get an evo purely for drag racing.... it has potential, and the ability, but it will be totally wasted elsewise

If you want a good drag racer, why don't you put a custom drag suspension into a Pinto, and drop a twin turbo big block in there?
Whalla! Good drag racer. |

There's an Evo 6 in my country from garage R that ran 9.86 secs...
NO NOS!! |
Although the evos can produce some impressive numbers, I don't think they make fundamentally good drag cars for a few reasons...
One: They have a five speed manual. Sure, some pro drag cars do well with manuals, but each time you shift, you lose time on the strip. Two: They have turbos. Coupled with the five speed, your power drops off pretty fast in between shifts, and it doesn't help to have a light-weight flywheel. Three: They have all-wheel drive. While this helps with initial acceleration, it hurts the top end performance. In addition, its pretty difficult to warm up the tires like a rear-wheel drive car can do. I also don't see a lot of evos running big fat mickey-thompsons anywhere. |
