Shifter Base Bushing Install
This how-to is for the Kartboy shifter base bushings, but should work for other brands as well.

I got the shifter cable bushings in already.. so I would like to do these aswell.. hmm.. who sells these for a IX MR.. are the bushings the same on all trims.. I suppose so but am not 100% sure..
One thing I might add, is that if you do the underhood shifter cable bushings, make sure you lube them up with some synthetic bearing grease!!! It is vital in the long run!

The kartboy base bushings suck a$$....with all of these folks saying they don't fit you'd think they might want to change their mold...but nope.....**** doesn't fit......and after spending 25 minutes to get the console apart it's like a slap in the face.....Can I have my hour back and a refund Kartboy????
I just installed my kartboy base bushings in today. I had no problems. Everything fit perfect. Tom. when i have time i will do my under the hood bushings. Just with the base bushings u can really feel a difference. Can not wait to install the under hood ones.
This is a great write up. Just installed the AMS base bushings in my Evo 8. Shifting feels so much more direct and there is ZERO cage movement.
One thing this write up didn't mention is when removing the 4 bolts holding the cage to the chassis, the top-left bolt is under the the shifter linkage. It is a pain in the *** to get a socket on it, and even harder to line up the new bushings. If you unhook it from the shifter you can move it aside just enough to get a socket on the bolt and line up the new bushings. Hope that helps.
