For those who have changed mirrrors

I was looking at the shop manual on how to remove the stock exterior mirrors, i am replacing with APR, and it appears you have to remove a small interior panel to access the hardware. does this piece pry out? before i damage anything i wanted to check and see if there is a "right" way to this, to aviod damging the cover. thanks in advance.
