Used your "how-to" last night and started to do my headlights, great write up, it worked it out well! Is there a how to for the tails?

only how to I've seen is with a dremel.

dont even bother with the tails, saying its a PITA is a MAJOR understatement. like huge pain....

Did it to mine today... got everything off and then realized my headlights didnt fit in my apartment oven?! But I was still able to get them apart.

my buddy and i are doing on his viii...the lights are too big for our oven. heatgun works well, but it's pita to take those lights apart. remember to always expect the unexpected. don't forget to have fun too.

Also if you use 91% Alcohol while sanding, the alcohol disolves the crome paint in seconds. making it alot less sanding. And if you use a guitar pick with the sand paper you can get into the small groves.

i did them and they came out sick.i sand the chrome,and i used krylon fusion for platic paint and they came out nice.

very nice job and writeup.i wonder if the rears could be done as easily.its a big chance for screwing things up but done right looks great.

great right up, I hope to do mine this weekend. I have to take the bumper off to put the licp in so i will do the headlights at the same time.

For anyone who has done this.. does blackening the chrome affect the light output at all? I know the HID's use a projector but what about the high beams? Just asking because where I live good high beams are a must have.

I did not notice a difference in light output. My car has Hid's of course because its SSL FYI.
