Cheap and easy trunk lid "handle"

I don't like closing my trunk lid by putting my fingers on the spoiler or outside, because it leaves fingerprints and can scratch dirty paint. Most cars nowadays have inside closing handles, but not the Evo, which has just sharp sheet metal. Took a trip to Kragen Auto Parts and put some trim strip, which includes adhesive, on the sheet metal. Works like a champ. Here's before, during and after:

I'm the same way....I would use the Lancer Evolution emblem to close. No good... I like your idea....Suggestion: I would go up the edges a little more..maybe an inch....just to make sure.

Nice!

I do that sometimes, too. But I use my new "handle" for closing the trunk lid, not opening it.

I do that sometimes, too. Other times, I don't have the key in the trunk lock (for example, when I've popped it from inside the car), and then my handle comes in, er, handy.

I've been using this method since day one.

I like the door edge material idea though. I haven't cut my hand on the metal yet, but I should do this to prevent it in the future.
