The shifter assembly itself is slightly different, but the steps are almost identical from what I remember. It's more like a 60-90 minute install actually. It's really not difficult at all. It's just tedious. I have heard of no problems with retainers on the US Lancers.
I'll second that - a little time-consuming and quite tedious, but not too difficult. I wrote a review where I talked about the main points. Here it is. Anyway, if you have any questions beyond that, then PM me. But you can expect the pictures above to be pretty close to what you'll see in the US Lancer - the shifter kit itself is the same kit for both cars.

I think this really should be sticky'ed. Great writeup and helped me out a ton in installing my new kartboy SS and metal bushings from lancershop.com. Also installed a new momo knob, but with the Short shifter it seems that the bottom cap wont fit. Still looks pretty nice, I might post pics later

Anyhow, thanks for the writeup. Mods make this a sticky!

I second Karash's request for this to be a sticky. I purchased Evilution's short throw from him this summer when he got rid of his evo and thanks to his tips and step by step guide I had the thing completely installed in like 10-15 minutes in an O'Riley parking lot. He Karash how are those metal bushings working out for you, I absolutely love mine. Have a combo of the bushings, clutch extender rod, ss clutch line and am awaiting the arrival of some tranny mount bushings.

Glad you like it Mitsuorder. Although I got rid of my Evo I still love the car and like to keep up to date on the info. Maybe someday I'll be able to have one as a secondary project car. Glad my installs are working for everyone. *sniff* wish I still had my car.

Good Look

This was a brilliant post man. Though I actually have a Megan short throw it was all fundamentally the same. Cheers!!!
