Doesn't surprise me the mopar fluid is the same...Chrysler and Mistu are in bed afterall...I bet they have the same fluid manufacturers. I'll be picking up the mopar stuff I think.

<<<not an amsoil fan anymore...Seen way too many issues with it causing VTEC problems on Hondas. And if it's not good enough for a Honda, I don't want it anywhere near my evo

I'm thinking the oe oil has some kind of friction modifyer to help shifting, like lsd oil.I have used amsoil and syntorq(chevrolet uses this in corvette six speeds also and is cheaper than the mopar version)Mabey changing the oil every third oil change is a good idea(2000mi intervals). especially if the car is driven hard(like all evos are)

I have used many different brands and weights of oils. Any exact oil will work, diaqueen, castrol syntorq Lt are the only gl-4 75w-85 oils in existence. But even at stock power levels , the ability to lubricate under high heat and high torque conditions can by beyond a 75w-85 oil. I have used various 75w-140 oils with success. But ultimately your choice for gear oil should reflect power output and driving style.
I believe the quickest shifting can be had with the syntorq( both GM and Mopar have this oil ). But you should change oil at least every 4000 miles to get as much life from your transmission. There is a castrol synthetic oil 75w-140 gl-4 I have yet to try, but it is only available from Jaaguar dealers. I have logged 100k miles with my MR, and I am always looking to improve my car in any way.

I was under my car today wanting to change the oil in my transmission, transfer case, and rear diff. I only got to change my oil and coolant. I snapped a few pics though of my transmission because I am not 100% sure if these are right. I believe the two Allen key bolts are the plugs.

These are from me 06 Evo MR 6spd

Here are pics:

This is the bottom one that drains if:

This is the top one to fill:

That's what I saw while under my car. Someone please confirm that I am right so I don't try and change my fluids wrong. Thanks

The 6 speed trans fill and drain holes are Allen/hex key bolts.

10mm iirc.

It helps if the tank can be pressurized. Then oil changes can be done on the ground.
