Polishing the stock intercooler

wow, is it really necessary to go all the way down to 200 grit, i mean are there that many imperfections in the intercoolers?

and dont forget to alternate directions when switching grits!

Yes, drivers side tank is usually very rough....passenger tank is alot smoother but still not perfect. Top of IC is painted black, If I did this again I'd use aircraft stripper and not sand the paint off (double work) getting rid of 120-200 grit rough marks from paint removal.

bump.

Just wondering..but would it do the IC any damage to take it off and soak it in rubbing alcohol to try and clean out anything that may have gotten in the fins? the alcohol should evaporate once it's been left out of the soaking tank for a while. Might also help relieve some of the sanding process on the black paint on top.
