Advice on pulling a motor
I am going to start pulling my entire motor out today to send the short block to AMS for a 2.3l stroker this week and wanted to know how people dealt with the A/C unit (draining the lines and what not) or if you dont have to, how to pull power steering pump, ect.. I just don't want to cause myself a bunch of extra work so if you have done this and have any advice please chime in.
I haven't done an Evo yet, but the Subarus allow you to detach the A/C compressor from the block and set to the side while the engine comes out. Power steering is usually disconnected. This makes it so you have to deal with coolant and power steering fluid, but not refrigerant.

Dude not hard at all. Just pulled the TC i killed it anyways so i need to ship it off, then i just pulled the linkage, the mounts and some other little stuff, unbloted the motor, pulled the vacuum lines, and fuel lines. Disconnected all the harnesses then pulled her out. Just have to move the motor around a little while your coming up with the engine hoist and she will come out. Make sure you dont snag anything.
Nope pulled it with the mani on as soon as you pull the Motor mounts you can move the motor around all you want. I know hahah i just got done running Gyro this morning so im tired *** hell. Ill be back in Battlement mesa, rifle tomorrow i think. You going to need help getting it out?

I just disconnected the lines and let them spray out. Just don't be too close to it when you do it. lol but try taking the whole thing out from the bottom if you can jack it up high enough. its real easy that way. take the motor and transmission out at the same time.
**** were you drilling at? What rig? I just got off of 280 and 279. you have to pull your transfercase. Your going to need a slide hammer for that. to pull the spline shafts out.

That's not illegal as hell. Way to go on depleating our ozone.
The way to do it correctly has already been said. Unbolt the compressor from the block, you can even do the same with the power steering pump. That's how I did mine.
