Thanks. Great price. I just bought one. Shipping is pricey but all together cheaper than most. It says I should have it in 3 days so hopefully I see it sat. Not sure which company they use for delivery So maybe Monday

Glad I replaced it. It was nasty. I never replaced it and it had 4 yrs and 30k miles on it. Also the factory one wasnt the carbon kind it was just a filter. This one was with the carbon. This was a great buy. I will buy again. I just wont wait that long this time

Are there any Autozone-type sources for this filter, rather than buying online?

Hi great write up! I am going to do this tomorrow. Thanks for posting this.

Just a note on how to remove your glovebox though. Rather than forcibly bending in the glovebox where you have the red squares, there is a removable peg at the left hand red square that can be slid forward to remove it (the peg) completely.

I have taken photos that show this peg (my 2004 evo 8 MR is a Japanese Domestic Market vehicle and so it is right hand drive, so the glove box is a mirror image of US Domestic Market Evos).

Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to do this write up, it is appreciated. I am going to instal a cabin air filter tomorrow. I am also going to try to source some activated charcoal material as well (as detailed in this thread https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ir-filter.html , post #11).

Activated Charcoal Filter
On another note I went to Home Depot and purchased bulk (cut to fit) activated charcoal material. Cut the material the size of the filter and lay it over the top of the Mitsubishi filter material.

With only a little care you can slip the assembly into the Evo's air box. Thus for $5 in material I have sufficient material to last many years.
Cheers,

Peter D

It is more price effective to order two filters from the original site on the sticky thread because the shipping goes up if you put in 3. So save some loot and buy in 2 incriments.

dealerships always mark up prices. ill have to check and do mine when i get my car soon. However every 15k for an air filter and incabin filter (air purifier) filter is normal no matter what car you drive. the same air and particles your airfilter traps is the same air that goes into the cowl for your ac/heat.

the WIX version looks very interesting, no carbon in it but some newer techology which is also supposed to be good
I got the TYC unit but next time will be giving the WIX a shot
Same price or so from Amazon.
