The transfer case uses two fluids. One is gear oil , the other is the ATF SPIII. The gear oil is what you have to change not the acd. The mitsubishi can says LSD gear oil.

I'm not sure if the AYC fluid change in your model is similar to the X in the US. There is a drain and fill for ATF SPIII and Gear oil for the rear diff in the X.

Thanks guys,i ended up using Liqui moly 75w90 for the gearbox and also Liqui moly for the t case. The shop that did it has done other evo's before so i'm sure they used the right viscosity.

great write up with good photos!

dumb question but "6. Pour new fluid in until it starts to come out of the drain hole (It is sideways) or around 3 quarts."

Am I pouring new fluid until it comes out of the FILL hole? meaning it's topped off?

I've heard Lucus 75w90 is the best choice. Lucus makes great automotive products. That is what I will use when I change my transmission fluid today.

For your ACD pump fuild, I talked to Vladimir Bace (creator of the ACD re-build kit) from acd-tuning, and he had said to use AMSOIL fully synthetic ATF for the ACD pump. I need to rebuild my pump and change that fuild today as well.

Quochung123, this topic has been covered extensively.

Do some reading before asking again, starting with the stickies here:

Great write up. Very helpful the other day. I recommend the funnel for the transfer case. Makes it a lot easier than the pump.

Does anyone know where to get a good trigger style pump?

I wonder if using regular generic atfIII has anything to do with my acd lights coming on... I just did a trunk relocation and all the wiring seems good.
