Anyone drop in 6X9s in rear deck???

Hi guys,
I've been thinking that you could squeeze 6X9s in the rear deck (with a little Dremmeling of course). I'll never drop in a sub because of the weight, but I want a little more bass. I already have two T-class lightweight amps ready to go.

Has anyone done this rear deck 6.5 in to 6X9 conversion in a Lancer or an Evo? If so can you post some pics for us?

Thanks!

You could...but honestly...I have been in the Audio business for 13+ years....why bother? You can find yourself some damn good 6.5" speakers and they will have better sound quality then 6x9's any day. The oval shape of the speakers leads into tonaly distorted sounds. Granted you MIGHT get slightly better bass...but...everything else that comes out of the acutal cone will not be as good as a 6.5". Find yourself some GOOD speakers and stick with those....trust me. Now if you don't care about sound quality and your one of those that likes to peg your volume knob all the way up and don't care that your speaker is flying out of it's basket...go for it! LOL

Thanks for the reply man! I have heard other people say the same thing actually but I've never really noticed any distortion from 6X9s. Then again it's not my profession to listen to them!

Honestly I don't think the stock system is all that bad, but there are definitely some humps in the lower-midbass response I want to try and get rid of. I suppose that higher quality 6.5s with some dynamat and higher wattage with careful tuning should do the trick for flatter response and lower extension.

it doesnt really matter if you add a few pounds of course it would affect depending on weight but its not noticible in fact i think is for every 100 pound is 1/10 of a second i have a custom system installed which weighs about 200 pounds but with mods i got past that i get in the 12 in quatermile time with basic mods like bushur racing exhaust downpipe and upgraded intercooler etc. The piont is look at pruvence top evo8 car it has a heavy system as well yet it is fast as hell so put your system in especially w7 sub size 10 it will be enough

If you are using the factory head unit, why not try to get the Ralliart 6" sub option for the trunk.
