Been thinking about gettings these too as i plan on taking her to Sebring Raceway and such. However I haven't noticed anyone ask about "deactivating" the stock seatbelt sensor while your using these? Say you wanted to use them on the street or the like, but being these are the standard Rally4 belts, how would you do it?

When using my harness, I simply buckle the stock belt in, but route the stock lap and shoulder belt around the back of the seat. It's never been a problem in that configuration.

2 things to think about, however, when using harnesses on the street. Some folks on EvoM will tell you you run the risk of serious neck injury when using these belts, because you can't move out of the way in the case of a rollover accident - if the roof crushes in your upper body can't move enough to give your neck and head enough relief. So the thought process is that if you're going to run harnesses, you should have a roll cage. And of course, running a roll cage on the street brings its own safety debate due to the possibility of head injuries from the bars (unless you're going to wear a helmet on the street, too).

The other safety aspect to point out is that a 4 pt harness provides less anti-submarine protection (i.e., sliding under the lap belt) than do your stock 3 pt belts. So the argument is if you go with a harness all the time then it should be a 5 or 6 pt. But of course that brings along other issues, like replacing the stock seat with a seat that can accommodate a 5 or 6 pt harness.

The likelihood of these things coming back to bite you? Probably slim (at least the rollover), but it's best to know the risks before you make the decision.

yes, there is a switch in the clasp of the seatbelt that you can manually put in the proper position that represents the seat belt is fastened. You have to take the clasp apart (the short section of seatbelt by the center console with the red release button on it) to get to the switch.

unplug the connector, under the seat. (takes 8 seconds)

(and leave the SOB unconnected.)

then you'll throw the SRS light, which I currently have lit. Not as annoying as a "ding-ding-ding", but I'd rather have it not lit all the time. Wish I would have realized this before I started the car with that plug disconnected.

actually, no you won't.

The plug under the seat, and thats all. Plugs right into the bottom of the seat and the seatbelt bracket.

I haven't had it hooked in years. I run memoryfab bucket seats, and while i have the buckle on the side for when not using a harness, the clip is not plugged in, and does not throw the srs in an 8 or a 9.

edit: sounds like you had the car's battery connected when you disconnected an airbag sensor. Clear the code, and the SRS is gone, it's not seatbelt related.

Does the Schroth harness have a 3" shoulder belts and 2" lap belts? or is it 2 or 3" for both?

Check 'em out here:

http://www.soloracer.com/rallye4.html

The lap belt is 2", but there's a padded vinyl portion between the driver and the lap belt that is easily 3" wide. Might be the ASM feature they talk about.

Gotcha. I don't know. When I pulled mine, they were torqued pretty tight, but weren't too hard to loosen. I simply reinstalled them with about the same tightness. Just went by feel.
