I have read other threads of using a scoop to pick up extra air from the front end of the car. I t seems like a god idea to me but I didn't want to take the bumper off is I measured and measured and made a template the drops on WITHOUT removing the bumper. You cut out the attached scoop and the remove the 2 trim screws holding the snorkel on the air box, remove the 1 trim screw from the bumper and curl the scoop down behind the bumper. Works great!!!!
I used 26 gauge sheet metal from home depot. A unibit (cone shaped drill bit) for the holes. Tin snips for the edges and notch on the side. Then I sanded, primed and painted. $5.00 worth of materials.
Here is a thread discussing the scoop....

only took my front bumper off once, and that was just to insure a perfect fit to the bumper, installation process was the same as you described after that. nice template and a very good idea, aluminum is a little easier to work with.
here is a link to some pics of mine, should be very similar to Cajun Power's template, if not at least it will give you an idea of what to expect. And a
for Cajun's my family is from Breaux Bridge.

not trying to hijack, don't even really have enough time to make these any more, just wanting to show everyone what it might look like.

Here are some pics. I used sheet metal due to the fact that the aluminum seemed a little too soft. This will hold up under the 150+ BOH runs.
Yes, my car is dirty in the pics.... I was testing in the rain last night...

ok, so here's mine - the night i drove home from work with it on, i could swear the turbo pulled just a little harder when it kicked in. hp gain or not, i'm sure my car's happier getting cooler air.
i made mine a little longer/wider than the template said to. also, i had to make 2 scoops - the first one's holes were off by a bit.(due only to my printer's quality i'm sure) so if you use this template, just know you may have some trial and error.

CF Air Scoop
First a thankZ to Cajun Power for providing the measurements to the air scoop. Had some left over Carbon Fiber so decided to just make the scoop out of it.
Quite a rush job thus the poor quality. But hey it's a great idea and I love it under the bonnet.

ya, my cut-out ended up higher (all the way at the top, actually) - as you can see in my pics.
all around great little mod!
how well does the carbon fiber hold up against high speeds? i've never really worked with the stuff, so i don't know how strong it is when used in an aplication like this.

I guess the CF holds pretty well at high speeds... after all a lot of spoilers are made of CF too... ^^ I prefered the look of it over metal so its a treat to have.
Now considering making a front lip out of it...

the only reason i asked, knowing that wings are made of it, is that with wings air passes around them and with this scoop air is more directly impacting the material.
but a friend told me that CF is damn strong, i guess. good to know.
