How to installe Flat-Spray Wiper Nozzles.

Here are the part numbers I ordered.
mr987467 left
mr598791 right
The nozzles look identical, if I had to do it again, I would order 2 of the Left nozzles as they come with extra hose, and most of your stock hose will be re-used.

Im waiting for the mail, so I decided to go ahead and install these things. Heres how to complete this simple install.

Note: Do not blow through the new nozzles, the pressure may mis-align the angle. These are not adjustable nozzles.

1. Pop your hood.
2. Remove the hood vent by removing a few wide plastic flathead screws and 2 metal loops. The loops are removed easily with a flathead or pliers to compress the ring and slide it out.
3. The heat shield under the hood vent is held in by several wide black pop-rivets. It feels like you will rip the shield by pulling so gently slide a flathead under the rivets and twist to pop it out.
4. Once the heat shield is removed you can view all of the hose.
5. Take the stock hose off the nozzle base.
6. Use a pair of dikes to cut the TOP ridge locking the nozzle to the car under the hood. You may be able to compress this and remove them, but I found it easier to cut, as I didnt want to damage the paint.
7. Remove the nozzles out the top of the hood, Clean the surface under the old nozzles! Mabye even apply some wax.
8. Remove the 2 side hoses off the Y connector in the center, leave the top on.
9. I had to trim back some of the "main" line to offset the Y-connector to the left some. This allowed me to keep a clean flow hose routing.
10. Remove the new nozzles from their hoses. Slide them down from the top of the hood and latch the lower portion of them. Press the top in and the latch on just like the stock ones.
11. Connect the angled hoses to the new nozzles, use the picture below as a guide to routing the hose. If there is any kinks the spray will be weak and hit low on the windshield.

12. If the hose is too short, use a bit of hose supplied with the new nozzles. There is one long and one short. The stock hoses have a little restrictor on them, you can identify these by the arrows on them. Make sure they stay installed or your spray system will be sloppy. The hose CAN be removed from both ends of these things.

13. Make sure all the hose is fairly secure, tuck the lines behind the metal tabs as seen in the picture.

14. Check the operation of your nozzles! It may take a few pumps at first to get the air out of the lines.

15. Work backwards to reinstall the heat shield and vent.

16. Close the hood!

thats awesome, I've been wanting flat-spray...it works so much better...

I finally used this on the road today at speeds from 20-80mph. The coverage is 100% better than the stock setup. I think people with the "its too low" and "its too high" either have kinky lines or forgot to put the factory restrictor in(the piece with the arrows). Works great, best couple dollars I have ever spent.

I changed out the washers on my Ralliart and Evo for the flat mist ones on the newer galants. Different parts number same idea, but the way to go!

These will work fine in a non-evo setup, right? I'm assuming Mitsu didn't change this between the stock lancers and the evos. I've got an '03 OZ, and have wanted flatsprays since I had a Gallant as a temp rental...

My neighbor has a regular lancer of some sort, I dont know what year ect. but he has the same trunk as me I am sure. The ones with the little mustache looking grille. Anyway I checked out his nozzles, and they are just like my stock nozzles so I am sure it would work fine.

I'm so much happier on the highway with these, and I don't have to worry about closing my sunroof when I need to use them as they don't overspray into the car like the stock ones did.
