I've done a bunch of searches but I cant find out how to remove the shift boot, does it click out or do i have to remove the console and unscrew from beneath?
are there any pictures anywhere of the process? |

Removing shift boot
Hey mate, very easy just replaced mine on a evo 4, same setup.
you have to remove the surrounding of the handbrake. there are 2 screws in bottom of the parcel tray were your elbow usually sits 1 screw behind the ashtray thats for the back seat then remove it and you will see 2 screws infront of the handbrake that hold the surrounding of your gear boot then remove the the front ashtray and cig lighter then remove the plastic in the dash that covers your head unit etc you will then find another couuple screws then pull it out, and there are four screw holding your gear boot in :) |

I've got the hard copies of the manuals, downloaded from the link supplied by AK, but I couldn't find any mention of the shift boot - maybe I missed it. So, I followed Thomasy's guide. As he/she says, it was quick and easy to do. The only thing I would like to add, is that once you have removed the front ashtray and cigarette lighter - the surround that hold the head unit in place just pops out. There are 4 push fittings, two on the top left and right, and two on the bottom (left and right). Just gently apply even pressure (pulling) to both sides and it will just pop out. |
