Valve cover stuck

Trying to remove valve/rocker cover for gasket replacement but it won't budge. Any tips on getting it off without damaging the head. I've tried tapping it with a rubber mallet but still will not budge.

Make triple quadruple sure you have ALL the bolts out so you don't crack it. Once you do that, use a flat tip screw driver pry it up at the corners on the transmission side, it'll come off with a smidge of force. Stick the screw driver between the cove rand head and just turn it like you're turning a screw. A few spots on the gasket get silicone to prevent leaks, so the cover doesn't just come off.

I had the same problem. Try inserting a long bolt through the bolt holes securing the timing belt cover and give it a few light taps with a rubber mallet to get some upward motivation. Be careful, because when it gives way, it does it suddenly.

I high suggest no one do this. Sounds like a great way to accidentally break the valve cover.

Handle with care, especially areas where the metal is thin. They are relatively brittle.

I solved it ages ago... By getting a screwdriver between the rocker cover and head and twisting very gently.
