okay, so i bought my evo a while ago, i bought a lip for it, for the front bumper but the bottom holes are broken. like if they already had a lip on it broken off, how do you repair the holes? for me to install the front lip for my evo 8?

Can you install washers on the inside & outside of these mounting points to give the mounting hole some strength? (im assuming these are the locations that are broken

Depends on how bad the mounts are broken, but may be worth a try instead of buying a new bumper cover

You just need to get the screws tight & the lip should hold just fine

Yikes, was that the previous owner? That looks horrendous! Might want to buy a new bumper cover as MinusPrevious stated, or you can try to fabricate yourself and figure something out.

Me answering this is kinda stupid, I've never messed with the lip on my car. However, my wife drives over parking stops and pulls the front fascia off of her car - I do have some experience. Is it possible to make new holes between where those are torn out or maybe mount the lip with short sheet metal screws?

You can rough those tabs up with sandpaper then slap some JB weld on there and it will be solid as a rock. You could JB weld washers on there too.

I took have the same problem I have an evo 9 bumper with a seems to be lip at some point with broken slots. Need help finding a solution as well

This is an easy fix. No welding needed.


-Measure the width ( only the width from the plastic bumper and downwards on the back side of the bumper) and length of the oem metal bracket.

-Buy the same width and length of aluminum bracket of 2mm thick.

-Bend the aluminum bracket to the shape of the oem steel bracket, I am referring to the inside/back of the bumper side of the bracket.


-Bolt the aluminum bracket on to the oem using 3 screws in the spaces in between the holes of the oem bracket. The heads of the screws should be on the outside of the oem metal bracket, i.e as you see the bumper on the car, with the screw reaching all the way through on to the aluminum bracket.


-Now again from the outside/front side of the bumper mark the holes on the alum. bracket through the existing oem holes of the oem bracket, drill them out carefully.



-Now you can bolt your lip on to your bumper.
