oil cooler fan install
turn wheel to the right and lift with a jack. remove screw and clips.

span 5.2" spal puller fan, 2" thickness, order the brackets that comes from http://www.spalusa.com the connector I bought separately, 16G wires, connectors, etc.

if you decide to use the brackets, open the distal hole with a screw driver phillips then flat to fit a 12mm bolt. or you can do the vorschlag mod of using pins to hold the fan in place(also available in spalusa.com).

they(vorschlag) used this bracket for easy install(see pic above). but there is potential for wear and tear on the oil cooler itself hence I used the real brackets instead.

this how the bracket will be connected to the fan. notice the shorter bracket on the upper left. don't tighten it yet. notice the enlarged holes at each end?

connect the bracket one at a time to the left side oil cooler bolt. the shorter bracket(pic) goes to the bottom bolt. the long uncut bracket goes to the upper left side bolt. I connected the bracket in immediately behind the oil cooler as the bolt is too short to just add a nut and hold it in place. since this is known already, you can opt to just buy a longer 12mm bolt 1 1/2" and just add a nut at the end for an easier install.

an on/off was chosen as I cannot use the fan control module nor the fan motor switch to tap the connections. I used the cigarette lighter (+) wire which is ON when the key is in ACC and tapped the wire going to the switch and from the switch to the 85 end of the relay switch(engine compartment) the 86 end of the relay is connected to ground. the (+) battery power source connects to the 30 end of the relay switch and the 87 connects to the (+) red wire of the fan motor. the black wire of the fan motor connects to ground located near/above the fan.

tunneled the wire to the car's interior through the left/passenger side firewall grommet. I used a 16G galvanized iron wire and pulled the wire(from the switch) coming from the interior compartment out to the engine compartment.
