I was looking at the seats in my '03 and the driver's side is starting to show wear while the passenger seat is like new. So, it looked like a simple swap was in order.

With the seats out I encountered the impossible to remove bolts. Apparently they are installed with thread locker which would require heating to 500 degrees for removal. Before dong that the uphoistery would have to be removed. So, why not just swap the upholstery, still a big job if doing two seats. I just put the seats back into the car.

So, somebody needs to figure this one out. It has me baffled.

Great write-up, thank you!! I just swapped the right side cover, foam and backing to the driver's side. It took about an hour and a half but i only draped the passenger side upholstery onto the back so that I can fix the pos plastic backing when I get more time.

Very nice-- now if I could just find a good source for the cracked back plastic on a pair of seats I have for a Datsun project...

Just took my seats out this afternoon for a good cleaning and when putting them back in my side bolster snapped on my driver side.
Didn't realize it until I leaned on it while I was cleaning the passenger side.
This is exactly the write up I need.
Thanks OP

great thread! love the details. I'd need this when I do my driver's seat, the bolster has a lot of free-play most likely broken brackets.
