Slowboy Racing 2.4L Long Block!

We start out with our own 4G64 block core and utilize the OEM crankshaft. Machine the block for proper sizing and make sure it's 100%. Wiseco Forged pistons are mated to the Manley H, H+ or I Beam rods and it's all put together with ACL race bearings! This 2.4L, even in the most basic level is good for 600hp and will make torque like no other!
$2499 - NO CORE DUE!!!!

I have some?? about the 2.4....

Is the crank forged and nitride coated like the stock 2.0?
Would this be a un cut crank in this block?
What kind of revlimit is safe on this?
Do you use ARP main studs and align hone the mains?
Will a stock 2.0 oil and water pump work on this?
Which head gasket is to be used?

Thanks in advance

I'm going to have Mike come and answer these questions for you. He's a wiz on the 2.4L! Thank you for your consideration.

Is the crank forged and nitride coated like the stock 2.0?

Yes, it sure is - Mitsubishi enthusiast are blessed with great OEM parts aren't we?

Would this be a un cut crank in this block?

We try to always run a STD/STD crank in our performance blocks unless money is truely an issue with the end user. Our RWD car runs a 10/10 factory crank - and I am quite sure we are more abusive on that car than 99% of our customers would be on their own. You also have the ability to upgrade to the new Manley crankshaft at an extra cost.

What kind of revlimit is safe on this?

The highest I suggest is 8500 - although I tell most people 8250. I have run my own to 9000 with no issues, but I have great trust in my tuner! Tuning is the # 1 issue here in my opinion.

Remember, if I break my own at 9k I take it to my hardworking guys in the shop and say "I screwed up - fix it" - you would have to get out your wallet - just keep that in mind!

Do you use ARP main studs and align hone the mains?

We do not use ARP's in every bottom end, no sir. It is an option.

ARP mains with align hone is typically around a $150-$175 option on all of our shortblocks.

Will a stock 2.0 oil and water pump work on this?

Stock oil pump yes.

Stock water pump works with our adapter plate/ spacer.

Which head gasket is to be used?

87 mm head gasket from Power enterprise or Cometic - whichever you prefer! They range in price from $80-$210.00.

Remember there are other considerations for this motor as well, you will need 4G64 cam gears and belt, and a qualified person to put everything together for you.

If you are a DIY first time guy (this goes for anyone) - I would suggest having your block bored/ honed/ and assembled with your choice of aftermarket parts. This makes putting everything back together a bit more straight forward!

Wonderful, Thanks for the quick reply.

Is a copper o-ring an option for this block?
So 2,500 for the assembled 2.4 short block plus ARP/hone option?
Could I request an uncut crank since a cut crank would negate the coating protection?

I am thinking about this but am real **** when it comes to engines and build practices, Would a clearence sheet come with the engine? Also would you contact me before the engine is built to find out how to spec it out to suit my goals?
