Don't get me started about the douchebags that use their rear foglamps.
The only vehicles I see with rear foglights are generally trucks which are lifted or have tinted windows. If you think about it on any vehicle, there is really isn't enough lighting when backing up in the dark.

Not to go too off topic, but if the RS and 05GSR don't have fogs, what fills up the extra space in that huge headlight housing? They just givin you room to add strobes and neon lights?

Not sure about the RS but the GSRs have fog lights.

Fog lights are for fog or bad weather. It puzzles me why anyone would use them for standard night driving. They light up the road immediately in front of the car. If you are looking at this area while on the road than you need your vision checked as you are probably seriously nearsighted. You should be looking 50 to 100 yards up the road. If anything, running with the fogs on is bad for your night vision and makes it harder to see in the distance.

It is no wonder that Mitsubishi turns them off automatically every time you shut the car down. You don’t need them aside from the rare occasion.

If you are using them because you think they look cool – Try underbody lighting, you will love it.

I use to drive with them on all the time when I first got my car but now it just looks funny so I don't turn them on anymore. My headlights are bright enough for the road, I have it on the 3rd setting (purpish color) and if i put it on 0, it'll blind everyone.

Mercedes, Audi, Volvo and MINI are a few car manufacturers that come to mind immediately that are equipped with rear fog lights. They have nothing to do with backing up, they just look like the left brake light is stuck on.

Cool

One of the uses for the rear fog lights in Europe is to turn them on if someone is following you too close or if they have their high beams on...

I leave the fogs off until I see another Evo owner. I'll flash them with it if I don't feel hassled...

Nope

I only use it when driving through BFE. I would use them all the time if they were below the headlights. I like that look better than fogs incorporated into the regular headlight assembly.

Fog lights are for use in fog. Some people like to put them on just to try and look cool. I think it was a novel idea back in the 1980s but nowadays it's about as unique as blasting your stereo everywhere you go.

Why on earth would you use them in BFE.? There is no one around to look "cool" for and unless there is bad weather all you do is create light noise. I believe that, because of the bright light directly in front of you, you can't see as clearly further out as it dulls your night vision.

Oh that's right engineering..... nevermind

An interesting point. I remember when the '89 Maxima SE came out. It was like one of the first cars I can recall that came standard with "driving"/fog lights. There were people that would drive around all the time in broad daylight with both low beams and fogs on, or total dorks who'd drive around at dusk or even night with JUST the fogs on. We had a '90 model but I can't remember if you could do that from the factory or if you had to get one of those JC Whitney kits that let you drive with the high beams AND fogs on to do it.

Mitsubishi switched away from static foglight buttons in like '99, or with each subsequent redesign of each model. Both of mine have permananently "on/off" fog switches. But going to a temporary button was probably to "teach" people only to use them when necessary - that and it probably lowers the need for replacement H3 bulbs.

the 05 gsr's do not have fogs... i have an 05 gsr. if you get the SSL package, then you get fogs, but the majority of them do not have them

what fills the space? a little chrome globe in there, that somewhat resembels the lense, but its solid chrome paint like the rest of the headlight housing. you can kinda see it in this pic of my car.
