I'm am getting my system install now in my 2003 evo 8. I have the alpine iva300 flip up dvd, boston acustic front, with two 12" jlw6s. Two jl 500/1 amps are for the subs and a jl 300/4 is for the door speakers. I have a 1 farad cap also. the wiring is 1 gauge splitting in to the usual sizes. Will the cap be enough or do I need a yellow/red top, or even an alternator? where do I get an alternator if I need one?

i have same tv deck and a hifonics 1000watt amp and a kicker 12" square sub going in my car in 2-3 weeks or so. i've been wondering the same thing because I'd like to get the slim battery upgrade but i dont know if that will cut it. i tihnk power caps help out alot
