Bad water or Meguiar NXT?

Well, I've never ran into this problem so I figure I have it limited to 2 problems. I recently just moved to a new house (possibly bad water) or is it the fact that Meguiars NXT is just not what its cracked up to be? I use there car shampoo NXT and the wax and every time I wash my car it actually looks worse. Water spots everywhere and you cant rub them out with just a microfiber towel.

I bought the Mr. Clean device just so I could use the spot free wash incase it was the water but it still looks awful.

To try another approach I just ordered Klass AIO, the HighGloss and plan on topping it off with Pinnacle. Hopefully I will get much better results...

any thoughts? this is on a tarmac black 03...

I also have a Tarmac Black VIII, but I havent had any problems with Meguiars NXT wax. Spots show up rather fast on black cars, so I have made it a point to wash my EVO either early in the morning or late afternoon to cut down on the sun effecting my detail job. If you access to a garage or something that will provide shade I would definitely recommend using it while you wash and wax. You never know though it could be something in the water, but I want to say that the Mr. Clean car wash kit should soften the water because of its built in filter. Hopefully you start to see some better results, because nothings worse than a car you just washed and detailed that has spots all over it. Good luck.

I just tried NXT and it was a let down. I guess you get what you pay for. I was hoping that it would take care of some of the swirl marks, but nothin.

NXT actually took most of my swirl marks out of my Blue By You Evo. Gave it a nice deep gloss look as well. I was very happy with it.

Sal from Zaino said to use some vinegar to get rid of the water spots. What I would do is make sure when you rinse your car that you dry it immediately so the water spots don't form (cool shade area).

Looks like your expectations were WAY too high for NXT considering that it is not a swirl remover. That is not what it was formulated for. NXT is a wax. Although it has some filling capabilities, its not going to solve your swirl problems. A dedicated product is meant for that like Meguiars Scratch X.

Thats what polish is for, to fill in the light scratches in your clear coat. Wax is protectant. NXT may get out some swirl marks, but you'll see better results if you do a cleaner, polish, then wax.

Thestaton, did you wash your car in the sun by any chance? What did you use to try to remove the water spots other than a microfiber towel?

I use NXT wax and quick detail and I love it. I just got the NXT in the puddy form (not liquid gel) and its even better! I havent found anything better so far.

oh, I always wait till the start of sundown and make sure my car is in the shade atleast an hour before I ever start. Even then I soak it in cold water for a few minutes just to make sure and give it a touch with the hand to make sure.

The rims / wheels always come first with meguiars hot rims then I start with the roof and work my way down... I do a panel at a time and proceed to rinse it right off. This method has worked great for me with the WRX. Now I have the EVO since I've changed houses I cant clean my car to save my life so frustrating.

i'm thinking its got to be the water is there any tests you can do or anything to fix it?

You can buy filters for the water at Home Depot. Looks like you have some hard water.
