Yeah, they do stand out, don't they. Another thing you can do is just remove the protective grill. It would make them a tad slimmer. But I really really really don't feel like removing the bumper again.

yeah I hate seeing the same 6 pictures go by 50 times..

I had these horns mounted. Good tone, not as loud as I would have liked, but they are louder than stock. I used to always use FIAM triple tone air horns (130+ dB?) but they take up so much space. The FIAMs do get people's attention better, simply because you don't hear that kind of sound very often.

Oh. can get them at Griot's or on ebay as well.

I'd love to oblige and post a soundclip, but without the stock horns as reference who can tell how loud these are..

Any details on the install? Is it just plug and play? or is wiring involved?

I like it. I was thinkin about doing this as our horns all sound like crap. but i was thinking more along the lines of a loud A$$ horn like we use on fire department vehicles. (That's where i volunteer )

The kit comes with a relay, but you don't have to use it. My friend with a WRX wanted to keep the stock horns in conjunction with the Hellas, so he had to use the Hella relay.

But since mine was just replacing the stock unit, I use the stock relay and it was basically plug and play EXCEPT you need to ground the Hellas. So there is some very mild wiring involved. Also, like I mentioned in one of the previous posts, the Hellas are very directional. It would probably be a very good idea to construct a bracket that places the middle horn more into the open, above the intercooler.

I had 2 air horns on my last car (part of the alarm) with a button wired to the steering column in case I need to use them without setting off the alarm. They were loud enough to wake up my apartment complex

I would like to put some on the evo as the drivers in DC are horrible and a lot of times they aren't heard very well on the interstate.

Nice mod, I'd leave them red looks good.

Ha. well, that would show you the difference in tone, but not volume. You would need to hear the 2 horns in the same medium. Either next to each other in real life or both in a sound clip or video taken very close together. Even if someone else posts a sound clip of a stock horn, unless we both use the same equipment at the same distance with the same gain... well you see what I'm getting at..

go to streetfire.net in videos and search for train horn, that will give you an idea of the sound . Not as loud though.

Taking off the bumper sucks because of all the different plastic clips. There are TONS of them and they aren't all the same size. Just try to keep track of what goes where. It does fit back to normal.

I think the red on the horns goes really good with the car. Glad you left them red.
