I'm not sure but you may be able to get some nail pops at home depot to plug the holes with. I'm don't know what other non-permanent options you would have.

I would go with the plugs mentioned above, as electrical tape will allow water to pass through if subjected to enough rain. Provided your car get's wet from time to time. Then you'll have a much larer issue of mold setting in on the carpet, or that horrid smell of mold eminating from your trunk.

The holes actually go through to the water lines. I saw lots of people dont even cover the holes.

I dont cover my holes and they're just fine... the holes lead to water passages and never touch the carpet. I've water tested this with a hose... haha. You can goto Kragen and buy license plate hole plugs. They're like little plastic bolts with a nut at the end and you can get caps that go over the bolt head. They're fairly clean.

Wow, I have never taken off my wing and I absolutely did not know there were drain lines to help with this. Nice to know and sorry about the uneducated post.

go to a local sign shop and have them make you about a sheet of little 1/2 inch circles out of vinyl. There's so many different colors of vinyl and it could be color matched to your car or very close. Just put the vinyl circles over the holes and no one can tell unless you're really close up on the car. This should cost <$10. Cheap and easy!! good luck.

Here is what I did in my "experimental" phase last winter. I picked up some metallic silver vinyl at the local sign shop. $5 for 12" x 12".
I cut a strip about 2" x 9" and rounded the ends. I covers all the holes with one strip. I left the gommets in the trunk so you can see the bumps a little bit.
It didn't look too bad for a hack job.
