Clay Bar
Clay Bar
I just washed the evo yesterday. Rubbed my hand across the hood and it felt rough. So I went and got some mothers clay bar and going to rub her down and then wax her up. Weather is suppose to be in the 70's this week.
+1.
Clay bar is great. Mothers is a good start, but i believe its not quite abrassive as some others. You may want to try the chemical brothers clay. It'll remove just about any small particle in your paint. Contact mitchubishi here on the forums. I bought some detailing stuff from him and he gave me some great advice.

I did my tarmac black VIII a few months back, and it really was like night and day. I bought my car used, and I believe the first owner must have parked it under a tree at work or something. I tried to wax it first, but it made absolutely no difference. I was a little apprehensive to mess with a black car, but I took my time (took about 3 afternoons to clay bar, scratch-x, then wax) and it turned out nice. You may want to buy an extra bottle of the lube (quick detailer, or whatever that brand prefers to call it) just in case.
Ok, I'll contribute something useful now that I've come to terms with New England weather. HA!
I bought a "kit" by Mothers last year and yes, it did a good job but I didn't get the results I was hoping for. Unfortunately, that's all they had available at the parts store where I frequent. There's MUCH better stuff out there and plan to pick up some new stuff in the spring. There's a thread about "How to detail your Evo concourse style" that has some really good tips and he lists a bunch of products that he used to get his results.
