Adding a clear coat to the new paint?

Adding a clear coat to the new paint?

Anyone tried getting a paint shop to add a better clearcoat to the new paint? To help with chipping and paint problems that people have been having?
Would it be a waste of time.. or would it really help?
Any advice would be appreciated...

I am thinking of doing the same thing. Color-sand the stock paint, put a few coats of clearcoat on to improve the look. I am thinking of a clear flake coat between the stock and clearcoats to lighten the blue a little - trying to get it close to medium purple mica on some of the JDM cars...

Anyone have an estimate?
