It's 4" cheap dryer hose that leads straight to the intake filter. I made a sheet metal heat shield as well with gold foil on the hot side of the shield. I must say, it works, VERY well. I go for a long hard drive, open the hood and the temp differance on the sides of the shield are very clear. Even if you put your hand on the metal ring around the end of the filter, it's only slightly warm at the most. Many people ask why I don't paint it black. It's because I don't care. Plus, you know the saying function over form? Well to me, function IS form
