I think I need to contact Mitsubishi because at 9k miles the chips are getting out of control.

no its happening on every one. Good luck...i checked with the dealership here, and well I know nothing. Didnt say anything about fixing it or anything. Heck id be happy with just a repair in those areas on both sides of mine and just some clear stonegard or something like that. Let me know what they tell you!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I just got back from the dealership, and they are going to repaint that area at no charge. I told them the huge problem that this is, and they are looking into it.

I am bringing my car in on Saturday. I also contacted Mitsubishi directly and started a case with them so they ( Mitsubishi ) and the dealer knows the seriousness of my problem.

Maybe they will do a recall on realigning the doors, that is the problem.

so, I've got my mudflaps on now, should be no more problems with these funny paint chips. I've got a couple of little chips already so I might get them treated at some point.

It's not a great picture, but the black ones don't show up easily against black tires (funnily enough). I'll try to get some better pictures over the weekend. I decided to get ones without logos to keep it subtle. I'm very pleased with the result as well. Personally I think it helps with the car's rally image, but I know they're not to everyone's taste. More importantly though it'll help reduce any future chipping issues...

I got them from a vendor in the UK in the end as, even with the poor current exchange rate and shipping costs they were a much better price than I found in the US. Great price, great quality, easy to fit - lovely. Vendor's site for anyone else's interested: www.scottlowe.co.uk

Finally, don't want to sound like a broken record, but I'm really not sure it's a problem of alignment (as the door seems to be perfrectly aligned everywhere but in this one spot). I'm sure it's a problem of manufacture with the door.

I was smart, read about the problem and had 3M put in the appropriate places

Last month I was washing my car and noticed that I was getting these same chips on the front of the rear door on the passenger side!!! Fortunately I caught it early on and added a little more clear bra -- both sides just incase.

this is my theory... on rainy days and in areas with alot of dirt and such.. some small rocks stick on to ur shoes. So when u open the door to your evo and walk in ur "heavy" feet rubs agianst the plastic gaurd leaving "rocks" on ur side skirts. Now u go to drive on the high way. as u pick up speed wind blows inbetween the door and ur side skirts and blow the rocks all the way back out the back door leaving STRANGE chips. please feel free to call me stupid and correct my grammer
