I run 55W 3000k for foglights and run 55W 6000k's in the high beams to go with my OEM Hid's. Kit is from Xenon Depot. 110 dollars.

any problems running 55w kit in the evo headlight housing? i want to get 55w but want to see if more people are running 55w kits out there that way im not a guinea pig...lol

I'm running HIDs from XenonPros for over 4yrs now and still love them... I have the 10K version, bright white with 40% of it blue! New kit runs about $349 w/ a 2yr warranty however, there was a sale for sometime now for $179.

I highly recommend these!

Running them since June and haven't had a problem yet. Well I had a fuse blow on the kit and I had to replace a replay the other day. LOL. Other then no issues, I just recently remounted them since I had my front bumper off to clean up the engine bay some.

I could probably get pics.
Got a JDM set lying around somewhere + a 55w DDM ballast.
May even do an OEM ballast vs 55w ballast comparison..

Only problem might be that the JDMs have a different beam pattern to USDM

 

the 3000k's look white with pics but they are super yellow. No pics saved, maybe this weekend

HID lesson 101:

Youve mistaken "Ballast" for the word "Bulb" in that statement. The ballast is what powers up the bulb.

D2R bulbs are made for HID optioned vehicles that use REFLECTOR housings.
eg. R34 GTR / IS300 / G35

D2S bulbs are made for HID optioned vehicles that use PROJECTOR housing.
eg. HID JDM & USDM CT9A's / CZ4A MRs / S2K / M3

Notice how the D2R bulb has a black strip in the middle. Its designed to block light so when its installed in a HID REFLECTOR housing it reduces glare to oncomming traffic. D2S bulbs are dont need a black strip. The cutoff shield inside does that job hence, a LOW beam pattern.

I read somewhere but cant find the source:
- D2R stands for 2nd Generation REFLECTOR
- D2S stands for 2nd Generation SHIELDED

That makes it easy to remember bulb type applications
