That's going to be a task, especially with a proper cage adding weight back into the car....top quality carbon fiber everywhere/lexan/lightened chassis components maybe can get you there?

TTU is a nut-job money class to run in if you want to be competitive....

The only reason we are even in mod class is that we have so many ideas to lose weight and its the only class we can run in. And yes we know its a very competitive class but our first year will be pretty much a test year our plan is no where to run fast times 1st year around. We plan on making 450-500WHP easy but are more worried about getting our suspension and all bugs worked out before we drop money into making 650HP+ and picking up some serious speed

lexan/lightened chassis components is whats gonna make us lose most weight

Well, you stated you would fall in unlimited, not Modified. 450-500whp should be competitive in a modified class

Suspension is a tricky one to figure out, good luck to you and your team!

My car weighs 2680 with me in it, and I have a full cage. Take my 150 pounds out, and you have a 2530 pound car that passes drag racing tech, and it still has glass windows and metal doors. I also have all of the seam sealer that he is scraping out, as well as some other weight in my car I can still remove, so he can absolutely get down to the 2500 range.

Most people, on the other hand, can't, and don't

I think its the difference between building a true race car and building a light street car.

I want my Evo to weigh 2900 lbs w/out me and I'll be very happy...which is more than feasible!

Good luck to the OP if you need some suspension/setup advice I can offer mine. I'm not it would be as worthwhile as say Robi's, but its free and its a start

Check out "the official wide tire thread" read every post... You'll see what seams and pinch welds need to be removed for added clearance up front AS well as out back. I would also make provisions for your front splitter and flat bottom while you're prepping the chassis (prior to paint)

Also I have a wonderful idea for lowering your ride height in the front about an inch lower than is normally possible while still maintaining an optimal roll center. (won't eat up spring rate)... This will also require some rerouting of wiring and metal clearancing. Also gives better inboard clearance of the shock in the front... and a way to run wider wheels out back without going outward
