I had car wash wipes one time from Turtle Wax. I used that to get all the dirt out and everything. For grease or anything in there I used Purple Power on a rag and just wiped everything down.

Car wash and a hose with a spraygun. make sure that the water pressure is very low and be careful not to wet the electrical connections.

I use Simple Green and a quick spray of water from the hose. It works wonders! I then treat the hoses with 'Back to Black'.

WD40 was invented here!

Spraying that on the engine would leave things streaky, I'd think.

I just wipe it down every time I wash the car. Keeping the bay clean is just as important as the exterior of the car. I kept after it since I got the car, so it didn't have a change to get dirty. Just use cleaning wipes that come pre soaked and wipe everything within reach. Then put some vinyl dressing on the hoses and such.
