Battling rust / peeling?

Ive had my car for 10 years now, it has almost always sat outside (street parking), and even when I had the opportunity to park in the garage during the day it would sit in parking lot under the sun while I am at work.

The black lines are starting to peel and develop some rust. What are my options for stopping/fixing this? How much would it cost?

See pictures below.

Thanks!

Check your warranty. If I remember, we have a 7 year rust coverage. Correct me if I am wrong.

Car is 10 years old its a 2003.

None of the actual silver paint showing any signs of rust or peeling... so I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction of maybe taking these black parts off or masking them off and redoing them? Im not a car guy, but Ive painted stuff before

Extensive floorpan rust isn’t as common, but dry-rotted weatherstripping and leaky heater cores often lead to isolated trouble spots like trunk floors and areas that lie under water-soaked carpet in the passenger compartment.

I am not a car guy... i have no idea what any of what you said mean :P

I am hoping to take these black mouldings off and repaint them? However I am not sure what kind of paint to use? Any black automotive paint? Or what the process is? Like do I prime it, then do like 3 -4 coats several hours apart? then do a clear coat paint on top of that? for total of 4-5 layers?

Where do I get the paint? Pep Boys or Autozone sell it?

what about the part that I cant take off? like the top of the doors, where the arrows point to rust spots?

You could paint or just order new body mouldings for the Evo. They are expensive though and hard to ship.

The door pillars would have to be repainted.

Is there a guide somewhere on how to repaint? How/where do I get the paint?
