Ronnie's 06 SSL Build Thread

I figured I'd finally make a build thread considering it's been a 4 year ordeal with this car.

I purchased the car in August of 09 in Brooklyn. A buddy of mine found the car for me and it was a super deal, with only 39xxx miles. Even if I paid the same amount today for the car it would've been a deal. It had a bad clutch so I bought an Exedy twin for it right away. Since then the car has been through multiple setups with many dollars spent. Last season the car started out around 450hp with a "break in" tune made in Ohio by the owner of ECS. I took 2nd place in Evo Stock Appearing in Ohio. Then after a few mods and E85 the car made around 600whp on a FP Red and blew up and took the motor out with it. Right now the car is together with a whole new setup that is making me poor quickly. I'll try to do a quick rundown of mods on the new setup:

engine (2.0):
-GSC S3 cams
-Kiggly valve springs with Ti retainers
-Supertech Inconel Exhaust valves
-Supertech Nitride coated Intake Valves
-ARP L19 head studs
-Wiseco HD2 10.5:1 pistons
-Manley TurboTuff I-Beam rods
-Clevite bearings
-ARP rod bolts/ARP mains
-Fluidampr crank pulley
-Dimple brand magnetic drain plug
-STM oil cooler delete

fuel:
-AEM fuel rail
-FIC 2150cc Injectors
-Aeromotive adjustable fuel pressure regulator
-Buschur Dual Fuel Pump Setup (2 modified walbro 255s)
-stock feed/return lines

intake:
-MAP Rev2 Ported Intake Manifold
-Mil.Spec ported throttle body
-VR Speed short route UICP
-Tial Q BOV
-Buschur 4" race intercooler
-Buschur lower ic pipe
-4" JMF speed density intake pipe
-9" AEM Dryflo air filter
-Calan Catch can setup -10 to VC

exhaust:
-JDL T3 tubular manifold
-PTE 6466 T3 .82AR Turbo
-JDL v-band o2, dump, downpipe
-VR Speed/Muse vband cat-back
-Tial MVR 44mm Wastegate

suspension:
-Fortune Auto "drag spec" coilovers
-Wedsport TC105N 17x9.5" rims with Dunlop Direzza 255/45
-Project Kics R40 NeoChrome Revo lugs
-Stock EVO MR BBS with M&H 245/45 Drag Radials

drivetrain:
-Shep Trans rebuilt with Evo 8 3rd/4th gears
-Shep Trans built acd tcase with hardened ring/pinion
-Quaife LSD in tcase
-Quartermaster 8leg Twin disc
-AWD Motorsports aluminum driveshaft
-Torque Solution driveshaft bushings

exterior/interior/gauges:
-fiberimages cf hood
-rexpeed side skirt cf extensions
-damd cf rear extensions
-ralliart replica cf front lip
-cf vortex generator
-OEM evo rain guards
-evo 7 jdm tail lights
-35% tint
-jvc 7" tv w/navigation
-aem wideband
-aem 50psi boost gauge
-aem 150psi oil pressure gauge
-works short throw shifter
-titanium shift weighted knob
-JVC in-dash navi/dvd
-viper alarm

The whole motor setup now has around 2000 miles on it and was recently road tuned by TSCOMP in Ohio right before the DSM/EVO shootout. It makes roughly 770hp/545tq and in Ohio I was able to do a 10.11 @ 144.78 with a crappy 1.72 60ft. I'm very happy with what the car is doing and it's pretty much issue free at this point. I am going to be changing some things around to make the setup more efficient so I'm probably done driving it for the season. I would love to run 9s before the end of the year but I'm not in a rush.

I didn't realize how long it's been since I updated this.

My last motor was short lived, and spun a bearing which then bent/ejected a rod and took out just about everything in the entire bottom end. I was REALLY close to parting it out but instead took time (and LOTs of money) to get the car back together. Now it's a mad dash to hopefully get it together to be able to take it to Ohio this year.

Here is a rundown of some of the stuff I changed this year:
-sent the head out to be ported by Curt brown which includes ported oil return ports to allow oil to get to the pan faster
-AMS oil pan
-English Racing oil pump sprocket
-90 DSM oil pump gears (straight cut instead of helical)
-brand new Wiseco HD 9:1 pistons
-brand new Manley Turbo Tuff rods
-new o-ring'd .020 over block
-custom to my specs assembly by Larry's Auto Machine in Groton, CT
-ceramic coated hot parts
-powdercoated brembos, vc, wg, bov, turbo compressor by Justin @ Detective
-Frontline Fab CAS covers
-Rota Slips with Hoosier QTPs / Extended front wheel studs / aluminum spacers
-TRE rebuilt tcase with new oem ring and pinion and ACD removal
-quik-latch bumper quick removal
-Mirage radiator (evo4-6 upper hose setup, thinner for better turbo fitment)

Now on to the pictures!!

Powdercoated Jamaican teal accessories:
