2006 Evo IX SE

I parted out my DSM race car project and bought a 2006 Evo IX SE to build a fun, clean, fast, true street car.

Like to build thread of the DSM...

http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/93-eagle-talon-tsi-awd-auto.430703/

Since buying the Evo about a month ago I've added Sparktech COP, ID 1300cc injectors, converted to speed density (omni 4 bar, Grimmspeed EBCS), custom intake pipe with K&N filter, ETS UICP with Tial BOV, and a bunch of OEM replacement parts and hardware.

The car already had a cheap IC (which will be replaced with a ETS core), a HKS hyper exhaust, cheap exhaust shop test pipe, a cheap downpipe, Walbro 255, and Megan coilovers.

I have waiting to install...

AEM water/meth kit, Curt Brown 70mm ported intake manifold, FP cast manifold, MAP 3" V-Band down pipe for FP turbo (waiting for a BB black from FP), probably some other parts I'm forgetting.

Windshield was replaced, all weather stripping, windows retinted. Front bumper and hood will get repainted. Have all new oem hardware for both.

Then powdercoat brake calipers, pads, lines, rotors.

Looking to make 550awhp. Probably in a year I'll pull the short block and rebuild it (2.3 long rod).

Once I get the BB Black the head will go to Curt Brown for porting.

Also, waiting on some goodies from Frontline Fab to show up.

Clutch is still in debate. Either a competition twin with the heavy flywheel or a modified Exedy Twin. I don't want an obnoxiously loud twin disc that is a PITA to drive even though this is just a weekend car.

Very nice! Love to see the Evo is now in a good owners hands. Looks to have been neglected.

Yeah the guy I bought it from works with me at a Steel Mill where he drove the car to work. The problem with that is the parking lot gets coated with lime dust from the furnace stacks. Lime dust will destroy the paint on a vehicle and even etch the glass. I drive a beater 94 Honda CX hatchback to work and I have to use Purple Power to clean it.

Luckily I have a friend who details professionally and he was able to cut and buff the horrible oxidation out of the Evo. After spending 9 hours detailing it he got it looking good, he said he still needs to wet sand it to get all the deep stuff out. The hood has rock chips and just needs to be repainted and the front bumper the clear coat is pealing. Both will get repainted soon and get all new OEM hardware.

One thing I love about owning a Evo is I can buy pretty much everything new from the factory. My goal is to have it looking like a brand new car again.

Looks awesome! Keep us updated with the progress. Always like to see a clean TB IX.

And if you're interested in an ETS FMIC 3.5" let me know. I've got one up for sale currently.

Wish I had some before pics of the exterior, interior, and engine bay.

Trash and $20 worth of change in the car, soda residue on the center console, oxidation and pollen from being outside, engine bay was dirty as hell, never cleaned.

Once I get some parts powder coated I'll post a pic of the engine bay.

I just called JNZ Tuning today and ordered some more OEM replacement parts haha.

Got a few mods done in the engine bay recently. Starting to look good.

Valve cover, thermostat housing, misc brackets, and a Curt Brown ported IM 70mm flanged (not installed yet), CAS housings, all powder coated gloss black.

Carbing strut tower bar, cooling panel, and radiator cap.

Frontline Fabrication CAS covers and dipstick handle.

Buschur Racing catch can and dipstick.

FP cast and coated exhaust manifold. Cusco heat shield. (I'm having the factory shield chromed)

Samco radiator hoses

Sparktech COP

FID mini battery tray, radiator brackets, CAS heat shield

Replaced several bolts with either new OEM or stainless allen head bolts.

Still have to install, Curt Brown powdercoated gloss black intake manifold with s90 70mm TB, Boomba polished fuel rail, Zaklee clear timing cover, Fidanza polished cam gear with ARP cam gear bolt.

Wish I had a before pic of the motor as it was nasty.

waste no time dude. boner for the frontline fab stuff. I did all button style ss allen bolts for pretty much every visible bolt in the bay. Completely changes the level of cleanliness. Painted my coolant res and even the brake res cap satin black. As the bay starts to clean up they look like big white turds in there. Keep it clean man I like ur style so far

Recently got the factory exhaust manifold heat shield chrome plated. Turned out good I think.

The manifold bolts are actually brand new OEM ones but they really stand out so I'm going to get some stainless allen head bolts and stainless washers to replace them with.

Just have to be sure to put some nickel anti-seize on the threads. Stainless into cast iron has a tendency to bind up.

Look what I got this week!

Just need a couple supporting mods and it'll be ready to go on.

38mm tial wastegate is on the way and I've had the MAP downpipe and dump pipe for several months now.

It is the largest factory replacement turbo offered for the Evo by FP

As far as the FP turbos go from smallest to largest you have the Green, Red, Zephyr, Black, Zero
