Dont think its gonna do anything accept keep in more heat... i.e. the heat stays within the coating on the metallic materials and will most likely be conducted forwards and backwards along the pipes... It will keep your oil pan from being heated up though.. but I'm wondering at what expense? And i also think that its only a matter of time before the coating cracks up due to the expansion of the internal pipe. BUT it does look drool worthy :

I went with Swain because it was the best value IMO. They have the thickest coating, with the highest temp rating (3000 deg F, pipe will melt first). They have been using their coating on headers and manifolds for years, so I'm not too worried about cracking, I've never heard of that problem either. The white color of the coating should radiate less heat than black too. The goal is to keep the pipe from heating the oil up, make the cat last longer and perform better, and reduce cabin temps in the summertime. The only expense,

$100 buck is a very good price including shipping. I know some vendors sell thermal wrapped downpipes and charge a little more than that for just wrapping it and of cours you pay shipping on top of that. Any idea if this works better than thermal wrapping? I ask because I thermal wrapped my own for only $40 but it was a little itchy.
what else are you gonna get coated?
