its a pioneer DEH-P8400MP theres a link and the specs on this thing. friend wants to sell it to me. says it was 600 when he bought it. less than a year old will sell it to me for 300. only problem is i dont know **** about this stuff and im the first to admit it. give me engine mods and things like that and i know my way around, not this stuff. anyway i dont want to really upgrade the interior speakers. just looking for a nicer/fancier head unit to put a little better sound to the speakers. i really like that it plays cd and mp3 cause of all the mp3's you can fit on a cd. let me know what you guys think i really need opinions on this.

 

great head unit, layers upon layers of features, ebay has them for around 240, not really sure how well your friend took car of it, but they look like they cost a million bucks!

 

as far as the deck goes, the 8400 is a very good deck. it is known for problems with the motor that operates the part of the face that moves. as for what your friend is telling you, i think he is skewing the truth a bit. first off, that deck is 99% likely OVER a year old. its a pioneer 8400 and i've got the new 8600 which is a month old and there was a 8500 last year so you do the math. as for the price. it was not 600. it was 550 when it first came out and quickly dropped to 500. trust me. i used to have the model at my shop. i personally think you could do better than 300

 

one more thing, you could always ask for the receipt to prove the date of the purchase and the purchase price.

ok guys thanks im gonna look around a bit more and hunt for a slightly better price. this guy is **** as hell so i know its in tip top shape. he also has the receipt.
