need to get rid of bad swirl marks

Ive got a blue EVO and i washed it with an old mitt and the mitt had a particle of something in it. maybe gravel or wood, but i didnt find that out until i had already washed part of the hood. It left some scratches in the clear coat that were pretty obvious. So i got some polishing compound (turtle wax) and polished upt he areas that were scratched. It pretty much got rid og the scratches but it left some swirl marks that are barely visible unless you catch the light right. Whenit catches the light right it looks like someone washed the hood with a brillo pad.

Is there any other polishing compound that will take this out? Maybe something with a finer abrasive? It seriously gets on my nerves when im walking up to my car and i see these swirl marks. Ive waxed the car since then and the wax didnt do much good.

any info would be great.

you will be fine...pick up a product with a finer abrasive and WORK IT IN!...work it in until it's practically gone...don't just apply and wipe off...some over-the-counter products that would be good in your case to remove that hazing from a compound would be either the Meguiars #9 or 3M's Perfect-IT Swirl Mark Remover part#39109 (or 39009 for dark finishes)...

hope this helps

thanks,

any idea if this stuff can be purchased locally? The only places we have here in my city that sell car wax and polishes are autozone, advanced auto parts, and walmart.

Try Maguirs NXT wax from Walmart (or any such store). It is fantastic for removing light swirl marks. I use it on my black evo and it's perfect in the sun.

Good luck!

NXT doesn't remove swirl marks...only hides them...give it a few washes, and they're back...
